Personal Goal for the Activity:

With this activity, I hope to develop my team-work and leadership skills in order to create furniture that will be useful to the charity. I will know that I have achieved the objectives if our furniture is chosen to be used by the charity.

Anticipated Learning Outcomes:

5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively:

In order to create the furniture, I will have to work along with students from other schools; and hopefully, I will learn some things from working with them.

Reflection

On the forth day of our stay in Prague, our guides sent us once again to ARCHIP, the building hosting the only Architecture and Design School in Prague. This time, they were going to put in groups of five, with international students from other school; and we were going to design and create a bird's nest using only sustainable materials. The best products would be sent to a local charity to place in a park.

This activity sounded very interesting to me since it needed creativity and teamwork. Our team was selected and I got to be with one classmate, one student from Russia and two students from the United States of America. We were also introduced to a professional designer that would be our mentor/leader for the project. First, we started off jotting down the features we would like to see in the bird's nest and came up with the following: waterproof, easy to access, good spacing, and curved edges to keep the water away from the entrance.

After four hours of intense debating, cutting, and glooing, we came up with the final product as can be seen on the right. I personally have learned many things about design, and have also learned a lot from collaborating with students from other background. Good news, too,  is that our nest was chosen to be sent to the charity!
