Activity Short Description:
In partnership with Instagram celebrity and designer Jason Nam, our class will individually have to take pictures and post them to Instagram. This pictures, however, have to relate to a topic given by the instructor and have to be taken in a limited area of space, After selecting a picture and uploading it to Instagram, winners will be chosen by a jury of designers.
Personal Goal for the Activity:
With this activity, I hope to develop my skills of creativity while becoming better at expressin my ideas. For this activity, I need to use my creativity in order to find a worthy photo of a given topic in a small area of space. I will know that I have achieved my objectives if the jury mentions that my photo is good or well-thought.
Anticipated Learning Outcomes:
2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process:
I am currently not an artistic person and I do not frequently post pictures to Instagram, and therefore I am embarking myself in something new that will surely develop new skills.
At about 12 in the morming, our class and other schools were sent to ARCHIP, the building hosting students studying design and architecture. Once inside, we were introduced to a team of designers, of whom some like Jason Nam were real celebrities in Instagram.
First of all, we were given a small seminaire on how to capture the perfect photo for Instagram and how to use filters too. Right after, all the students were separated into 5 different groups, of which each would have a main topic or hashtag. My hashtag was #gravity. This means that I had to take a photo of something inside that building that related to the topic of gravity.
I was strolling about with some classmates and I suddenly found a ballon hanging from a tall ceiling. I thought this object would be the perfect one. In order to be most creative, I thought I would take a picture of myself and the balloon and then turn it around on my phone. My main objective with this was to "challenge the laws of gravity", showing as if gravity did not affect me nor the balloon.
After taking and editing the photo, we were sent to a room where we had to post our photos to Instagram with the designated hashtag. Once all of us uploaded, the team of designers decided which five photos were the best.
Unfortunately, my picture was not chosen by the designer; however, I did learn a lot about photography and improved my artistic skills.
